As a way to celebrate tournament week, the Truist Championship donated $25,000 to Temple Health for Temple Women & Families Hospital. The donation was made to celebrate the golf tournament’s one-time stop in Philadelphia and in support of Temple Health’s mission to provide the highest quality healthcare programs to give Philadelphia’s mothers and babies their healthiest start in life.

“We are extremely grateful to the Truist Championship for this generous donation for Temple Women & Families,” said Abhi Rastogi, MBA, MIS, Executive Vice President of Temple Health and President and CEO of Temple University Hospital Inc. “Temple Women and Families will be the only hospital dedicated to mothers and babies in the Philadelphia region and these funds will help us make excellent care easier to access for the women and families of Philadelphia regardless of their economic status.”

"Temple Health’s commitment to providing accessible, compassionate care for mothers and babies in Philadelphia aligns perfectly with the core values of the Truist Championship,” said Joie Chitwood, Executive Director of the Truist Championship. “When we considered impactful ways to support the community, Temple Women & Families Hospital stood out for its dedication to serving those who need it most. We’re proud to contribute to their mission and help further their exceptional work.”

In addition to the $25,000 donation, the Truist Championship also provided special tournament-themed onesies for all babies born at Temple Health during tournament week. Also, as a special way to mark Mother’s Day, golfer Tony Finau and his wife Alayna provided gift baskets and flowers to 20 patients who gave birth at Temple during tournament week. The gift baskets included baby wipes, diapers, swaddle blankets, Truist YETI cups, and Truist Championship onesies.

Premier Facilities in the Region's Only Hospital Dedicated to Mothers and Babies

Temple Women & Families Hospital is opening two operating rooms focused on same-day surgeries as well as a Lab and Pharmacy this month. These add to the broad array of outpatient services already offered at the hospital, including gynecology, obstetrics, family medicine, pediatrics, and X-ray, CT/MRI, with further opportunities for expansion based on community need. Inpatient services, including maternity, labor & delivery and neonatal ICU will begin operation in the months ahead.

At Temple Women & Families Hospital, premier facilities will provide comprehensive health services, all in one location. Temple Women & Families will contain a premier neonatal ICU; family-focused labor and delivery and post-partum patient rooms; and a range of routine and specialty care for women and families.

Innovative Technology and Programs to Improve Outcomes and Enhance Services

Temple Health will be leveraging innovative technology at Temple Women & Families to improve outcomes. Temple developed a maternal health outcomes dashboard to study its maternal health rates, trends and key factors driving inequities across different groups. This data-driven resource guides medical record-based, risk-reducing interventions. In addition, Temple Health will use risk-based algorithms to identify potential risk factors during labor to address and prevent negative outcomes for both mom and baby. These Epic-based algorithms will send out alerts to the care team in real time so they can make timely and informed care decisions.

Temple Women & Families will also offer an integrated OB behavioral health program. The Perinatal Collaborative Behavioral Health Care Program (PCBH) at Temple Women & Families will address the significant delays that pregnant and postpartum patients in North Philadelphia face in recognizing behavioral health symptoms due to limited behavioral health integration in clinical care settings. PCBH will improve behavioral health outcomes, expand access to behavioral health care, promote holistic and peer support services, and enhance continuity of care for pregnant and postpartum patients. The PCBH team will be embedded within the Temple Women and Families campus and will include bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker care managers, peer support workers, and psychiatrists. This multidisciplinary approach will ensure that patients have access to comprehensive care that addresses both their physical and mental health needs throughout their pregnancy and postpartum periods.

Finally, a novel Community Health Worker-based program called the Temple Mama Model will pair Temple’s most vulnerable pregnant patients with a perinatal Community Health Worker from their first OB appointment until one year postpartum. The Community Health Worker will provide healthcare navigation, proactively address missed appointments, and offer connections to social determinants of health programming all while cultivating trust and empowerment.
