The American Heart Association (AHA)’s STEM Goes Red program empowers young women to enter STEM careers by giving them an inside look at top employers and experts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. As one of the nation’s leading academic medical systems, Temple Health teamed up with the AHA for a recent STEM Goes Red event.

Eman A. Hamad, MD, Director of the Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Program at Temple University Hospital, delivered the keynote speech. She discussed how “STEM isn’t just science—it's about the lives it touches and its service to humanity,” and encouraged participants to “make every beat count” by "transforming your circumstances into the fuel that propels you forward."

Multiple Temple Health team members also shared their expertise. Cath Lab/EP Lab Manager David Cridland, BSN and Cath Lab nurse Gigi Araneta, RN participated in breakout sessions demonstrating the skills and equipment utilized in the Cath Lab. Roslyn Scriber, MSN, Director of Business Operations in the Division of Cardiology, and Tajmah Kelley, APN, Director of Clinical Operations in the Division of Cardiology, served as mentors.
