Healthgrades has named Temple University Hospital – including its Main, Jeanes, Episcopal and Northeastern campuses – as one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals for 2023.

Healthgrades is a national healthcare data company that develops objective ratings based on risk-adjusted, publicly-reported outcome data and other information. The organization evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 31 of the most common conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 hospitals across the country to identify the top-performing hospitals.

America's 250 Best Hospitals are in the top 5% in the nation for overall clinical excellence. Patients treated at one of the 2023 America’s 250 Best Hospitals have, on average, a 28.7% lower risk of dying than if they were treated in other hospitals*.

Healthgrades has also ranked Temple University Hospital #4 in Pennsylvania for Gastrointestinal Surgery in 2023. Hospitals recognized as among the top 5 in their state for Gastrointestinal Surgery are providing patients with consistently better-than expected clinical outcomes and patients have, on average, a 28.4% lower risk of experiencing a complication or dying while in the hospital than if they were treated in other hospitals *.

“These quality and safety recognitions showcase to the nation that Temple University Hospital’s care teams are leaders in providing patients with advanced care, with proven outcomes, using leading edge technologies in state-of-the-art facilities,” said Abhinav Rastogi, MBA, MIS, President and CEO of Temple University Hospital and Executive Vice President of Temple Health. “This recognition speaks to our team’s ongoing commitment to patient safety and high-quality specialty care—the kind that saves lives.”
