Temple University Hospital-Jeanes Campus announced that it has achieved the Healthgrades 2020 America’s 250 Best Hospitals Award™. The distinction places the hospital** in the top 5 percent of nearly 4,500 hospitals assessed nationwide for its superior clinical performance as measured by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems.

“We take pride in providing patients at Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Campus the best care possible – the advances and innovation of a leading academic medical center in a close-to-home, community hospital setting,” said Michael A. Young, MHA, FACHE, President and CEO of Temple University Health System and Temple University Hospital. “This recognition from Healthgrades is further proof of the skill and dedication of the entire team at our Jeanes campus.”

“We’re pleased that Jeanes campus has earned another distinction from Healthgrades,” said Marc P. Hurowitz, DO, MBA, FAAFP, Executive Director of Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Campus and Chief Executive Officer of Temple Physicians, Inc. “It speaks volumes to the quality of the extensive range of medical, surgical and emergency services that we’re able to provide patients right here in Northeast Philadelphia.”

From 2016 through 2018, patients treated in hospitals receiving the Healthgrades America’s 250 Best Hospitals Award had, on average, a 26.6 percent lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award, as measured across 19 rated conditions and procedures for which mortality is the outcome.*

Temple University Hospital-Jeanes Campus is recognized for other Healthgrades achievements, including:

  • One of Healthgrades America's 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care™ for 4 Years in a Row (2017-2020)
  • One of Healthgrades America's 100 Best Hospitals for Gastrointestinal Care™ for 2 Years in a Row (2019-2020)

Recipients of the Healthgrades America’s 250 Best Hospitals Award are recognized for overall clinical excellence across a broad spectrum of care. During the 2020 study period (2016 through 2018), these hospitals showed superior performance in clinical outcomes for patients in the Medicare population across at least 21 of 32 most common inpatient conditions and procedures — as measured by objective performance data (risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications).
