Over the next few weeks and months, SEPTA is planning to reduce bus, regional rail, and subway services and increase fares for all riders.
We know that many of our patients depend on SEPTA for transportation to our campuses. Please plan ahead and research alternate routes so you don’t miss important appointments and procedures.
Dates to Know
- August 24, 2025: First round of service cuts and reductions, especially to bus routes
- September 1, 2025: Fare increases for all SEPTA riders
- January 1, 2026: Second round of service reductions, including discontinuing 5 Regional Rail lines (Chestnut Hill West, Cynwyd, Paoli/Thorndale, Trenton, Wilmington/Newark) and a 9:00 pm curfew for remaining Regional Rail lines
Impacted Routes
Several routes near our hospital campuses will be affected by the SEPTA cuts and reductions, including:
Temple University Hospital-Main Campus
- Service on Bus Routes 4, 16, and 56 will be reduced by 20%
- Service on Bus Route 60 will be reduced by up to 20%. Route 60 trips serving Delaware Ave. will be discontinued
- Service on the Broad Street Line Local and Express will be reduced by up to 20%
- Service on the Broad-Ridge Spur will be reduced by up to 20%
Temple University Hospital-Episcopal Campus
- Service on Bus Route 3 will be reduced by up to 20%. Service along Kensington Ave. will be discontinued, with all trips ending at York and Dauphin Sts. Customers can connect to the Market-Frankford Line or use Bus Route 5 for service north of York and Dauphin Sts.
- Service on Bus Route 25 will be reduced by up to 20%. The route will be realigned to operate via York St. and Frankford Ave., with service on Memphis and Cedar Sts. being discontinued
- Service on Bus Routes 47, 54, and 57 will be reduced by up to 20%
- Bus Route 89 will be discontinued. Bus Routes 25 and 53 will provide service along Aramingo Ave. Route 53 provides service along Hunting Park Ave. Other services, including the Market-Frankford Line, are within walking distance of Route 89
Temple University Hospital-Northeastern Campus
- All Route 5 trips will end at Front St and Girard Av, with service on 2nd and 3rd Sts being discontinued. Customers can transfer to the Market-Frankford Line [L] to complete their trip or use Route 57 on 3rd and 4th Sts as a bus alternative. Service on Route 5 will be reduced by up to 20%. Midday headways will go from 25 to 30 minutes.
- Route 25 will be realigned to operate via York St and Frankford Av with service on Memphis and Cedar Sts being discontinued. Service on Route 25 will be reduced by up to 20%. Peak headways will go from 15 to 20 minutes.
- Route 60 trips serving Delaware Av will be discontinued. Service on Route 60 will be reduced by up to 20%. Peak headways will go from 10 to 12 minutes. Midday headways will go from 15 to 20 minutes.
- Route 89 will be discontinued. Routes 25 and 53 will provide service along Aramingo Av. Route 53 provides service along Hunting Park Av. Other service, including the Market-Frankford Line [L], are within walking distance of Route 89.
Temple University Hospital-Jeanes Campus and Fox Chase Cancer Center
- Service on Bus Routes 28 and 70 will be reduced by up to 20%
- Peak service on the Fox Chase Line will be reduced to hourly only. At select times, weekday midday and evening service will be reduced to every two hours. Weekend service will operate every two hours
Temple Health-Chestnut Hill Hospital
- Service on Bus Route 23 will be reduced by up to 20%
- Peak service on Chestnut Hill East and West will be reduced to hourly only. At select times, weekday midday and evening service on both trains will be reduced to every two hours. Weekend service will operate every two hours for both trains
Temple Women & Families Hospital
- Bus Route 89 will be discontinued. Bus Routes 25 and 53 will provide service along Aramingo Ave. Bus Route 53 provides service along Hunting Park Ave. Other services, including the Market-Frankford Line, are within walking distance of Route 89
- Bus Route 25 will be realigned to operate via York St. and Frankford Ave., with service on Memphis and Cedar Sts. being discontinued. Service on Route 25 will be reduced by up to 20%
- Bus Route 53 will operate as part of Bus Route 79 to Westmoreland Loop and will be extended to Carpenter Station via Lincoln Drive to the west. Service on Route 53 will be reduced by up to 20%

To find alternate ways to get to each hospital, use SEPTA’s trip-planning and schedules websites. Make sure you’ve entered a date after the service reductions will go into effect (8/24 and 8/25 for bus and subway services and 9/2 for regional rail).
