Kelsey Adams, DNP, CRNP, a Lung Transplant Nurse Practitioner formerly working as an RN in the RICU at TUH-Main Campus,  was recently honored with the DAISY Award. She was recognized for her consistent efforts to make patients feel at home and to lift their spirits, as this excerpt from her nomination shows:

“Kelsey continuously goes above and beyond to provide exemplary care for her patients. In one case, when she learned that a patient was missing his beloved Phillies games because they weren’t available via the hospital’s cable, she signed into her own YouTube TV account on his tablet so he could watch baseball games.

She also contacted the Philadelphia Phillies to let them know that a huge fan of the team was in critical condition, and former Phillies player Dickie Knowles came to visit the patient as a result. Kelsey has provided care that goes well above and beyond the typical call of duty for a bedside nurse.”

The DAISY Award was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away from an autoimmune disease. The Barnes family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring, and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, and created this international award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
