Dr. Mohamed Alsammak Earns December 2025 TFP Kudos Award

Mohamed Alsammak, MD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Director of Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine at Temple University Hospital, and Director of the Pathology Residency Program, was recently honored with the Temple Faculty Physicians (TFP) Kudos Award.

Dr. Alsammak was nominated by Yuri Persidsky, MD, PhD, Chair and Professor of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Katz, who wrote: 

"As Director of Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine, Dr. Alsammak oversees and provides guidance for critical services, ensuring all sites are using the same criteria and metrics for a standardized, Health System-wide approach. Under his leadership, Transfusion Medicine has had no deficiencies during inspections by accrediting agencies, including the College of American Pathologists, the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies, and the Food and Drug Administration. 

As Director of the Pathology Residency Program, Dr. Alsammak is a very proactive and passionate leader and resident advocate. He is also an excellent steward in the utilization of blood products, creating substantial savings for Temple Health. He exemplifies the true spirit of collaboration and teamwork in every aspect of his diverse clinical and educational activities.”
