The Office of Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (OHEDI) at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM) hosted the 2019 Black Men in Medicine Symposium, as well as “An Evening for Black Men in Medicine.” The events addressed the national decline in the number of black men in medicine. 6ABC and CBS3 covered the symposium, and the Temple News interviewed Melanie A. Cosby, PhD, Director of Diversity and Inclusion and Assistant Professor (Teaching/Instructional) in OHEDI at LKSOM, and Sean Brown, a second-year medical student, at the evening event. The Temple News also featured comments from a speech given that evening by Vincent Swindell Cowell, MD, Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at LKSOM.
