Announcing the Opening of Temple Women & Families Hospital

On September 3, Temple Women & Families Hospital will fully open for inpatients and begin providing maternity and NICU care—marking a major step forward in our commitment to women, babies, and families in the Philadelphia region.

Located at 1331 East Wyoming Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19124, Temple Women & Families is southeastern Pennsylvania’s only hospital dedicated exclusively to women and infants’ health. It will feature Labor and Delivery, Maternal, and Neonatal Intensive Care units in a welcoming, family-friendly environment focused on patient-centered care.

Temple Women & Families is also home to physician practices and outpatient services that address our community’s needs, including family medicine, pediatrics, radiology services, and behavioral healthcare. These community-based services will complement the Philadelphia Department of Public Health’s efforts to reduce waiting times for doctor’s appointments, diagnostic imaging, radiologic treatments, and pediatric vaccinations.

Keeping Our Patients and Community Informed

Starting at 8:00 am on September 3, Temple Women & Families Hospital will be the new home for all labor and delivery services previously offered at Temple University Hospital-Main Campus. As a result, TUH-Main Campus will no longer provide labor and delivery services.

However, select services will be co-located at TUH-Main Campus to support ongoing or urgent gynecological needs that are not immediately suitable for transfer to Temple Women & Families Hospital. These include outpatient OB/GYN practices, gynecologic surgeries, comprehensive gynecologic oncology services, and gynecology services responding to our Emergency Department.

To ensure our communities are aware of Temple Women & Families Hospital’s opening date and our new care delivery model, we are conducting extensive outreach through a variety of communications channels, including local newspaper advertisements, radio announcements, informational flyers, health fairs, and other community events. Our physician practices are already discussing the transition with current patients and sending detailed letters explaining the changes in service locations.

A Promise to Our Communities

Temple Women & Families Hospital is a promise to our communities: that we’re listening, addressing their needs, and providing the expert care they deserve. We look forward to offering the highest quality services in life’s most important moments—now, and well into the future.
