Robert M. Swenson, MD, FACP, Founding Chief of the Infectious Diseases Section at Temple, passed away at the age of 84 on March 31. Dr. Swenson was a Professor of Medicine and Microbiology and led the Infectious Diseases Section from 1969-1982. He also chaired Temple’s AIDS Task Force from 1986-2005. The Lancet published an obituary of Dr. Swenson and included remembrances from Peter Axelrod, MD, Chair of the Infection Control Committees of Temple University Hospital and Fox Chase Cancer Center and Professor of Medicine and Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, and Thomas Fekete, MD, MACP, Thomas Durant Chair and Professor in the Department of Medicine and Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the Katz School of Medicine.
