Domenico Praticò, MD, the Scott Richards North Star Charitable Foundation Chair for Alzheimer’s Research, Professor in the Departments of Pharmacology and Microbiology, and Director of the Alzheimer’s Center at Temple at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM), is the senior investigator on a new study in mice published online in the journal Aging Cell. Dr. Praticò and a research team from LKSOM found that in mice, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) can defend against a specific type of mental decline linked to tauopathy known as frontotemporal dementia.
