Media Outlets Cover Study by Dr. Jonathan Soboloff and School of Medicine Researchers Describing Mechanism for Coordinating Calcium Signaling in T-Cells

Jonathan Soboloff, PhD, Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs, Professor of Medical Genetics and Molecular Biochemistry and Professor in the Fels Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Biology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM) and researchers at LKSOM for the first time described a mechanism for coordinating calcium entrance and exit “doors” on T cells that helps them carry out their jobs and ensure normal immune function. The study was published online in the journal Science Signaling and offers new insight into calcium signaling that could help scientists better understand the signaling mechanisms underlying autoimmune and immunodeficiency diseases, many of which involve abnormal T-cell activation. Scienmag, ScienceDaily and other outlets reported the findings.
