Kevin Jon Williams, MD, Professor of Cardiovascular Sciences, Professor in the Cardiovascular Research Center and Professor of Medical Genetics and Molecular Biochemistry at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, offered insight to Verywell Health about a protein named apolipoprotein b (apoB). apoB is a major structural protein found in low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol – also known as “bad” cholesterol – and is emerging as an accurate marker to identify potential patients at high risk of heart disease and stroke.
