TUH-Main Campus is proud to recognize Room Aide Yolanda Abdullah as Employee of the Year, and Associate Director of Nursing Services Richard “Brian” Fitzpatrick, BSN, RN, CCRN, as Manager of the Year.

Yolanda was honored for her conscientiousness and for going above and beyond to ensure patients feel secure and cared for, as this excerpt from her nomination shows:

“Yolanda entered a patient’s room to sweep and mop, noticed the patient was crying, and then engaged in a therapeutic conversation that alleviated the patient’s stress. She took the time to assure the patient that he would be okay. When he asked for water, Yolanda made sure to ask the nurse if the patient could have water (which he could) and then proceeded to get it for the patient.”

“The patient and his daughter flagged me down to bring me into the room to share this experience. They stated that she is a ’10 star’ employee and felt her actions made them have a better day.”

“Yolanda continuously performs these selfless actions that bring patients comfort and confidence. I know that our unit is better because she is here.”

Brian was singled out for his ability to inspire his team through his positive attitude, detailed feedback, and effective mentorship, as well as his exceptional leadership on unit and Health System-wide initiatives. You can read more in this excerpt from his nomination:
