Treatment for hypoxemia usually happens in a hospital. This allows your doctor to keep track of your oxygen level.

The most important part of treatment for hypoxemia is getting more oxygen into the body and the bloodstream. Oxygen is given using either a mask that fits over your nose and mouth or using small prongs that fit into the nose. In many people, receiving this extra oxygen is enough to bring the oxygen levels in their blood back to normal.
