ACL Injuries Symptoms

ACL injuries can happen suddenly, taking active people at all levels by surprise. The most common symptoms of an ACL tear include:

  • Popping sound or feeling in the knee – A “pop” is often described as being felt or heard, and afterward a sensation of giving way or not feeling right in the knee.
  • Swelling – Following an acute injury to the ACL, swelling often occurs within a few hours, creating stiffness, soreness and difficulty walking on the injured leg.
  • Loss of range of motion – A torn ACL can make it difficult to fully extend or straighten and bend the knee. Individuals often find it is more comfortable to keep the knee slightly bent.

If you experience any symptom of an ACL injury, it’s important to see a specialist to begin the treatment and recovery process. Request an appointment with Temple Health today.
