Neuromuscular Disease Program

A neuromuscular disease is challenging. Receiving that diagnosis can overwhelm you with questions and uncertainty about how it will impact your life. With Temple's Neuromuscular Disease Program, you're not alone. Temple's MDA/ALS Center of Hope is home to one of the area's most comprehensive programs for neuromuscular diseases. It's where you'll find some of the Philadelphia area’s most compassionate specialists dedicated to advanced care that helps you adapt to challenges and live as full a life as possible.

Neuromuscular diseases damage the endings of nerves involved with the brain and spinal cord, interrupting messages sent to the muscles that control body movements. The damage causes muscle weakness, imbalance, numbness and fatigue. That means it can become hard or impossible to do things most people take for granted, like walking, talking and eating. Most neuromuscular diseases can't be cured, but our specialists focus on helping you manage symptoms and live as fully as possible.

Our physicians combine experience and expertise with the most current technology to accurately diagnose neuromuscular conditions. They customize your treatment based on your condition and your needs, with advanced treatment options that help manage your symptoms and control pain. Our physicians are also active in research to find new treatments and cures for neuromuscular conditions, so you have access to cutting-edge clinical trials not widely available at other centers.

A Care Team Focused on Neuromuscular Conditions

Our program is where you'll find an experienced team of physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, mental health specialists, speech pathologists, nutritionists, and case managers, all dedicated to guiding you through diagnosis, treatment and beyond. They work together, focused on providing the care you need to live your life to the fullest.
