Nasir Shawqi, of Philadelphia Ceasefire, attended a “Peace Not Guns” community Healing Town Hall at Imhotep Institute Charter High School. The purpose of the town hall was to foster unity with a solutions-oriented approach following the recent uptick in violent crimes affecting young people, including the recent death of an Imhotep student who was shot and killed while boarding a SEPTA bus after school. FOX29 interviewed Shawqi, and his comments were featured in 6ABC’s segment. His photo also appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer’s coverage of the event.
