Symptoms and Conditions Best Treated at a Hospital Emergency Room
When to go to an emergency room: When you or someone close to you is experiencing:
- Chest pain or pressure
- Uncontrolled bleeding
- Sudden or severe pain
- Coughing or vomiting blood
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Sudden dizziness, weakness or changes in vision
- Changes in mental status, such as confusion
Symptoms and Conditions Commonly Treated at Urgent Care Locations
- Cold and flu
- Minor burns or injuries
- Sprains and strains
- Cough
- Headache and migraine
- Ear infections
- Minor allergic reactions
- Fever or flu-like symptoms
- Rash or other skin irritations

- Broken bones (simple fractures)
