Pastoral Care Services

True to the Quaker tradition honoring “that which is of God within each person,” our chaplains seek to support, comfort, encourage and be a source of God’s presence to patients, family members and hospital staff. They are here to help you in drawing upon the solace of your own faith traditions and the strength of your own spiritual resources. If you would like to see a chaplain, or if you would like us to help you arrange a visit with a clergyperson of your choice, please call our office at ext. 2036.

Private Duty Nurses & Companions

The Jeanes Hospital nursing staff is responsible for providing all of your care throughout your hospital stay. High-tech monitoring devices and computerized documentation make it difficult for nurses from outside the hospital to adequately care for you. Therefore, Jeanes Hospital does not allow private duty nurses or other healthcare providers to care for patients.  Privately contracted individuals may only act only as companions during your hospitalization.

Information on agencies that provide such services is available by calling the hospital operator at 215-728-2000 and asking for the Clinical Coordinator. The agency you select will give you information on the method of payment for the services. The expense is not a part of your hospital bill.

Taxi

These companies can provide service to and from Jeanes Hospital:

  • Philadelphia Taxi: 215-728-8000
  • Yellow Cab: 215-333-3333
Telephone Services

A private telephone is located at your bedside. Please tell family and friends your telephone number so they may call you directly. As a courtesy to other patients, and to ensure that you get enough rest, incoming calls to your room will not be connected between 11p.m. and 7 a.m. Patients may dial out at any time. Please follow these instructions when you make a telephone call:

  • Calls within the hospital: Dial the last four digits of hospital extension (for example, to call 215-728-9999, simply dial 9999).
  • Local calls: Dial 9 + area code + telephone number.
  • Suburban and long-distance calls: Dial 8 + 0 + area code + telephone number.

Give the operator your calling card number, or request a collect call.

Note: Suburban toll calls and long-distance calls must be made collect, charged to a calling card, or charged to a third-party number. The hospital cannot accept collect calls.

Television Services

The television system throughout the hospital is provided by an independent vendor. All rooms are equipped with a color television, which may be rented for a fee. Instructions for activating your television service will be provided to you upon admission.

The speaker for your television is located in the remote attached to your bedside (referred to as a pillow speaker). Please be considerate of other patients and keep the volume low.

For your safety, personal televisions are strictly prohibited for electrical safety reasons.
