Jeanes Hospital is located in Northeast Philadelphia. The only Quaker-founded hospital in the United States, Jeanes was formed in 1928 through a provision in the will of Anna T. Jeanes, a Philadelphia Quaker. The provisions in the will were for the establishment of a hospital for "Cancerous, Nervous and Disabling Ailments." The hospital's focus changed over the years and today Jeanes is a 197- bed, full-service community hospital that provides a range of adult medical, surgical and maternity services. Jeanes joined the Health System in 1996.
