Temple Physician and Researcher Elected New President of the Heart Failure Society of America
Thomas L. Force, MD, Professor of Medicine and Associate Director of the Center for Translational Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine, has been elected President of the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA). Dr. Force will serve as president of HFSA for the next two years.
Dr. Force's lab at the Center for Translational Medicine at Temple focuses on the regulation of normal and stress-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, which is an abnormal enlargement of the heart muscle. Board certified in internal medicine as well as cardiovascular diseases, he will lead HFSA as the society moves to Washington, DC, and continues to grow and expand its programs, patient advocacy and education efforts.
"I am very honored to have been elected president of the HFSA for the next two years," Dr. Force said. "Despite facing a number of challenges in healthcare, our Society will continue to advocate for patients, the professionals taking care of them, and trainees who wish to go into heart failure as a career, so that we can continue to grow this essential subspecialty."
